YSL NEW Matte Lip Stain Review

Lipstick seutik seugo!!

First things first, watch my swatches video here:

When I heard YSL launched a new lip stain line and it’s MATTE, I knew I had to get it!!! Seeing @leesusu ‘s swatches, I bought No.8 right away. The color was way darker than I thought.

The color was way darker than I thought. From her swatches it looked like the famous YSL 407 in the black tube, but it’s actually a super dark burgundy.

16 is the most popular color with a beloved nude color. It is really pretty and super wearable on daily basis. It looks pink on my lips. I got mine from Bloomingdales and I heard it’s always out of stock at Sephora.

12 is a true red. Like, a red red. To me it has an orange undertone. I’m not sure why I got it since I already have a plenty of red colors in my collection… But at least it looks pretty.

Overall Review

I love the colors! The “matte” looks like a regular matte, but absolutely can’t beat the Nars Velvet Matte Pencil or M.A.C matte lipsticks. The liquid form might affect the overall performance of the matte look.

Longevity

You will expect the longevity is super great since it’s a matte formula, but it’s not haha. It definitely can’t compare to M.A.C’s longevity. It started to fade after 3-4 hours, and can easily transform when I drink coffee.

I swiped the arm swatches 15 min after I swatched.

Comfortableness

It feels a little bit dry to wear so pre-moisturization is a must! (It’s a common problem among matte lipsticks.)

Applicator

The applicator is an A+! The thin and straight edge makes it really easy to draw the outer line of my lips.

SOOOOO It definitely gives a new vibe to the popular YSL lip stain collections, but it’s not a game changer. The YSL Vinyl Cream Lip Stain (the one with the black tubes) is still my favorite YSL lip stain line 🙂
