This was my first experience with a Cat Cafe in the U.S. I’ve been to multiple ones in China and they were quite different from the cat cafes here. First things first, watch my entire experience at Crumbs & Whiskers!
Cat Cafes originated from Japan and have soon become popular all around the world. The Cat Cafes in the U.S are really different from the ones in Asia where people make the cafes into actual coffee shops with cats lingering around.
Here in the state, the cat cafes are more “cat based”, namely it’s more of a “cat’s wonderland” than a coffee shop. Since there’s a law that no animals are allowed in any restaurants, most of the cate cafes have their own coffee shops on the side or partner up with other coffee shops.
Nearly every single cat cafe serves as a temporary shelter, with the living environment being 10X better. Guests can adopt cats on their choices.
Most of the cate cafes offer CAT YOGA which I think is the CUTEST idea ever.

The first cat cafe in America is the “Cat Town Cafe” in Oakland.

For the Crumbs & Whiskers that I went, MAKE SURE TO MAKE A RESERVATION BEFORE! We had an hour and a half to have fun with cats. We were asked to arrive 15 min before our reservation time, and during the 15 min we checked in and ordered coffee. There were about 10 cats there, and a lot of strict rules are applied such as do not wake up a sleeping cat or do not feed them with your own food. It was a really fun experience but I still love my Phoebe the best hehehehehe.
Here is a list of 10 best cat cafes in the U.S. You can also find the nearest cat cafes from your place at https://www.meowaround.com/countries/united-states
